ABOUT US
After Abortion Recovery & Care
We understand the emotional pain of abortion. You’re not alone, we’ve been there too. That’s why we are here to walk with you.
ARC’S MISSION
The mission of Care Net’s Abortion Recovery and Care (ARC) program is to lead the way in abortion recovery through resources and programs that connect, equip, and support those seeking healing for themselves and/or providing for others.
WHAT WE DO
We connect women and men impacted by abortion with individual ministries, pregnancy centers, and churches that provide healing resources.
OUR APPROACH
We equip individuals and organizations to provide abortion recovery through Bible studies and other training.
We support “seekers” and “providers” by building a community where hope is fostered and healing from abortion happens.
ABOUT CARE NET
Care Net is an umbrella organization that serves over 1,200 pregnancy centers around the country. Our mission is to offer compassion, hope and help to anyone considering abortion by presenting them with realistic alternatives and Christ-centered support through our life affirming network of pregnancy centers, churches, organizations, and individuals. We envision a culture where these women and men are transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ and are empowered to choose life for their unborn children and abundant life for their families.
WHY ARC?
We all know the story of Noah’s ark; it is one of rescue and promise. The building of a giant boat. The animals coming two by two. The flood. The rainbow.
We’re all looking for a lifeboat to rescue us from the flood that comes as a result of our choices; an ark that will carry us to safety when the waters rise. For many of us, abortion appeared to be that vehicle and when we jumped aboard, we found ourselves in ever-deeper water, drowning just the same.
But God.
He loves us so much that when He could’ve wiped out all, He didn’t. In his grace, He made a covenant with Noah. He gave us another chance. And we see the evidence of that covenant, that promise, in every rainbow.
For anyone who has participated in an abortion, we welcome you to ARC: Abortion Recovery and Care. We invite you to journey with us, to be forgiven and set free, and experience the abundant life in Christ that is waiting for you.
In A Love Worth Giving, Max Lucado wrote “You know the feeling. You have stood where Noah stood. You’ve known your share of floods. You’ve been on Noah’s boat. And you’ve needed what Noah needed; you’ve needed a little hope.”
We chose the dove with the olive branch as the logo for ARC because they are symbols of peace and forgiveness. They represent hope.
FOR CHURCHES
At Care Net, we believe that “life decisions need life support,” and the church is God’s instrument to provide life support to women, men, and families to empower them to choose life for their unborn children and abundant life for their families.
The church has a unique opportunity to serve women and men facing pregnancy decisions by providing for them in practical ways.
Care Net’s Making Life Disciples program provides the strategic plan to do just that.
Making Life Disciples equips the church to lead with credibility and love – offering compassion, hope, help, and discipleship to women and men facing pregnancy decisions. It is easy to implement and Care Net offers ongoing technical support from our dedicated MLD team. For more information on Making Life Disciples, click here.
ABOUT ARC
Jill Marquis, Director of ARC
What didn’t recover quickly was my emotional state. Don’t get me wrong; I left the abortion clinic relieved – my problem was solved. I was going to be able to go on with the life I wanted to live. For me, that meant I was going to get divorced and be with the man I’d had an affair with. And I did that. We got married and started our life together.
But here’s the thing: no one tells you at the abortion clinic that you might end up with a hollow feeling in your soul. No one tells you that when you get pregnant later in life with children you’ve planned that you’ll spend your pregnancies bargaining with God to not take these children in retribution for the one you aborted. No one tells you that you’ll spend the bulk of your children’s younger years mentally holding them at arm’s length because you’re secretly afraid they’ll be taken from you. No one tells you that you might spend a lot of time looking for things to take the edge off. For me, that looked like a lot of wine for a lot of years.
But God.
I truly met God in the pages of a healing Bible study for post-abortive women. He gently showed himself to me week after week as we peeled back all the reasons and excuses, and examined the emotions behind them. What I learned is that God is not a God of retribution, but he is the God of redemption. From the outside, my life looked good, and it was mostly good. But inside, I was struggling. Shame and guilt liked to shout at me; their voices were loud for a long time. It wasn’t until I had nowhere else to run, that I ran to Jesus.
Coming to grips with what I had done brought me face to face with the God of the Universe. And I will tell you he met me with grace and love. Every lash he endured, he endured for me. Every step he took carrying that cross, he took for me. It was my choice to have an abortion that put him on that cross. And it was his death on that cross that allows me to stand here, forgiven and set free.
I am living proof that God redeems it all. My husband and I have been married for over 30 years and we have two adult children. Prior to coming to Care Net, I had the privilege of serving in abortion recovery and pregnancy center ministry for more than a decade.
Now I am honored to serve you as you seek resources that will allow you or those you work with to find the same redemption and healing that I found. Welcome to Abortion Recovery and Care – ARC!
Healing from the pain of abortion is a journey. Whether you had an abortion last week, or 40 years ago, we're here to help.
